As far as I am aware, the 507.00 spec actually calls for 5w-30. This is from Europe, and is not the latest list of oils carrying approval, but it does show that they are all 5w-30. Manufacturer Oil Type Viscosity. Addinol Addinol Mega light MV0539 LE SAE 5W-30. Agip Agip 7008 SAE 5W-30.

HX7 to może być mieszanka GTL i arktycznego HC, tak samo jak HX8 GTL i PAO albo PAO i arktyczny HC. Kogo jak kogo, ale Shella stać na hydrokraking tego typu olejów, zwłaszcza że produkują pełną gamę smarowideł do pojazdów NATO. Nie chcę nikogo reklamować czy przekonywać do produktów firmy x czy y ale np znienawidzone w wielu kręgach Mobile to bardzo dobre oleje. Oczywiście zawsze należy się wypowiadać o konkretnej oliwie, ja swoje doświadczenia mam z FS 0w-40 i chyba wyżej to mogą być tylko oleje wyczynowe (ochrona przeciwzuzyciowa). W tym konkretnym oleju raczej ciężko się doszukać słabych punktów. Ale jak coś to wracajmy do brzegu, znaczy Shella #7 Brzeg blisko bo M1 0w40 też ma w sobie i to nie mało bazy GTL, zresztą nie tylko w tym konkretnym produkcie je stosuje, choćby w linii ESP. #8 Dochodzi jeszcze ta cena za Shella. HX8 jest obecnie w tej samej cenie, co nasz Lotos Plus, a HX7 jest jeszcze tańszy. #9 Nasze Lotosy i Orleny są często nieproporcjonanie drogie, ale mam wrażenie że oba koncerny podchodzą do tego jak laboratoria czy choćby dealerzy samochodów "popularnych" - głównym klientem jest biznes, klient indywidualny sie nie liczy. GF-6B nawet nie przewiduje żadnego z tych olejów. API SP ma łączyć parametry obu GF-6 ale biorąc pod uwagę że żaden zwykły Ultra xW-40 nie ma certyfikacji GF-5 wątpię czy pójdą z tymi olejami dalej. If you notice the TBN of 504/507 oil, that is the total base number of additive in the oils to protect against acid formation, you will see that 504/507 oils have a TBN nearly of HALF that of 502/505 oils. Low SAPS oils as they are reffered to cannot run the distance when using high sulpher fuels as their TBN would drop dramatically and their TAN level will raise to a point where they might sludge. It is NOT a semi-synthetic which denotes a mix of group 2/3 and 3+ base oils. Shell Ultra on the other hand is a PAO Group 4 base refered to as fully synthetic. In this case, Ultra is the superior oil in every aspect. Although, a group3+ is NOT always superior to a group 4 oil. Seemed weird to me... This is a common misconception. As both oils have a "hot" viscocity rating of 40, they will be virtually the same thicknes @ 100C. At 100C Ultra is marginally thinner at 1cst which is negligable. Although, Ultra has a higher HTHS (High Tempreture High Sheer) viscocity @ 150C than HX7 which means when running hard and very hot, HX7 will thin out a heck of allot more than Ultra in high temperature and high shear conditions. So under extreme conditions, Ultra will protect your engine way better to due its much higher HTHS VI. Plus, HX7 is much thicker when cold which also adds to premature wear (10w vs Ultra's superior 5w). HX7 is a 502 rated oil so it meets the minimum requirements of VAG but Ultra is way superior in every way. Also, Ultra contains LOTS more Boron which is a awesome anti-wear additive.

So so performance. Not that great pick up. Engine didn't sound that smooth. Overall average. Tried other products after going to new workshops and I have to say that Shell's EO pales in comparison to the other products out there. Go try other EO. There are many that are much better. This is the default engine oil for many brands of cars when going for servicing, including my previous Honda Jazz. Therefore it must be a reliable oil. Works okay for my Jazz.

But which oils is fine for the MK 4 Tdi's. I always used the helix hx7 but would like to try something else like Shell Rimula or Castrol GTX Diesel ?? VW API CI-4, API CH-4, or API CG-4 all can be used in these engines in addition to pumpe duse approved oils. I would just stick with the HX7.
